Submental Fat Reduction or “Double Chin”

According to a 2014 survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), 68% of people said they are bothered by submental fullness.*

Therefore, Dr Jenny has selected Allergan’s product, Kybella (deoxycholic acid), to non surgically treat submental fullness, or otherwise known as “double chin.”

With a series of injections, excess fat is literally destroyed from under the chin/neck, resulting in a permanent more youthful facial profile. Depending on your goals, we also offer ThermiTight, a minimally-invasive option for fat reduction and skin tightening under the chin.

Where does this extra fat come from?

Aging skin, weight gain and/or hereditary traits can all be responsible for the collection of extra fat under the chin, resulting in an uneven and undesirable facial profile. In many cases, this condition makes a patient look heavier than they really are.

What is involved in a treatment with Kybella?

Kybella is a product that is injected by trained medical professionals using a grid chart that is placed under the chin area. Depending on the severity of the condition, a patient can be treated between 1 to 4 treatments once a month with up to 3 vials at each sessions. The procedure is safe and effective and results are permanent.

What are the side effects?

The most common side effect is swelling and bruising at the injection sites, and possible numbness, redness or hardness at the treatment site. Side effects generally resolve within a week or two post procedure and are not permanent. Tenderness is most always experienced, but will fade. Results will become evident within 2 to 3 months.
