In our younger years, collagen in the skin is at its peak and provides shape and volume to our faces. As we age, collagen amounts decrease, which causes fat pads to begin to diminish, face to sag and become laxer. Volume loss can become noticeable in the temples, cheeks, eye socks, and jawline.

Both hyaluronic acid and Sculptra are injectables that can correct volume loss, but they work very differently. Hyaluronic acid filler uses actual HA to fill in the hollow areas and wrinkles on the face. The results of HA fillers are immediate. The results can last anywhere from 6 to 8 months, therefore these injections are needed regularly.

On the other hand, Sculptra is an injectable biostimulator made of poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA). Sculptra stimulates your body’s natural production of collagen deep in the skin. The results take time to show (about 4 to 8 weeks) but the effects last longer and offer a more natural look. Sculptra also tightens and lifts the face, sometimes referred to as a “liquid facelift.” The results can last up to two years. Sculptra cannot be injected in certain areas like the lips.

At Aponi Aesthetics, we offer both to provide patients with the results they are looking for as well as their lovegity.
