What are threads?
We use Polydioxanone (PDO) threads to smooth and lift skin on the face, neck and chest. This product is essentially an absorbable surgical suture that is placed into the subdermal layer of the skin to lift and initiate collagen production. The result is increased firmness and elasticity in the skin treated and lasts up to a year.
Are threads painful?
The area to be treated is numbed prior to the injection, therefore the treatment itself is nearly pain-free. Patients do report feeling slight discomfort for a 4-5 days following the treatment, but typically doesn’t impact daily routines. The procedure is done in our office by one of our cosmetic injectors and can be done fairly quickly.
When will I notice results?
You may notice a slight lifting and tightening effect immediately, however the collagen production isn’t truly noticed until 8 weeks. Increased smoothing and tightening is noticed for the next few months as well.
How long do the results last?
Threads can last anywhere from 6 months to a year.
Side effects
Bruising is the most common side effect and tenderness along the track of the thread and at the injection site is common.
