If you have been in the anti-aging game, you have probably heard of threads. There are different types of threads for specific kinds of concerns and desired results. Today, we will discuss smooth threads and why they are growing in popularity in the non-invasive medical aesthetics arena.

Smooth threads are absorbable surgical polydioxanone (PDO) threads that can be utilized on most areas of the face and body. They are thinner than hair and are composed of protein.

The threads are inserted underneath the skin to cause a minor and controlled injury that the body responds to by making collagen, elastin, and proteins. This recovery process results in a smoother, plumper appearance in the treated areas. Smooth threads are the ideal type of thread for undereye and lip area, laugh lines on the cheeks, neck and decollate. This is an alternative treatment option to dermal fillers to address tired, crepy skin in these delicate areas of the face and body. Due to the versatility of the treatment, you can tighten, smooth, and lift almost anywhere on the body. The same is not the case for other injectable treatments such as Botox or dermal fillers.

The treatment can be performed every 3 to 4 months, and it takes approximately four weeks to see initial results, with full results showing in about 4 to 6 months. This is a minimally invasive procedure without downtime!
